ClipForge

Self-hosted · Invitation only

Turn long video into short clips.

ClipForge watches an hour of footage so you do not have to. It transcribes it, scores every moment that could stand on its own, and renders the ones you approve as captioned vertical video.

How it works

Three steps, one of them yours.

1

Give it a video

A file up to 8GB, or a link it downloads for you. It reads the audio and writes a transcript with word-level timings, in about a hundred languages.

2

It finds the moments

Every candidate is scored on how well it opens, whether it pays off, and whether it makes sense to someone who has not seen the rest. You pick.

3

It renders them vertical

Captions burned in word by word, four framing options, 1080×1920. Then download it, schedule it, or send it to a connected channel.

Nothing publishes on its own. Every clip is approved by a person before it renders, and again before it goes anywhere — the suggestions are frequently wrong, and a tool that hid that would be worse than one that admits it.

Connecting a YouTube channel

What it does with your account.

Connecting a channel is optional; ClipForge is fully usable without it, and you can download every clip by hand instead. If you do connect one, it uses YouTube API Services for exactly two things.

Uploading

It uploads a clip you scheduled or published, and only then. It cannot edit or delete anything already on your channel.

Reading the channel name

It reads the name and id of the channel you just connected, so several connected channels can be told apart. Nothing else is read — no videos, comments, subscribers or analytics.

Tokens are stored encrypted and are deleted when you disconnect. You can withdraw access yourself at any time, without asking anyone, from your Google account permissions. Using a connected channel also means agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service; Google’s own handling of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
